Line Dancing with Joan Price!

"Recently a few friends have randomly come up to me and said, "You look great, what's your secret?" "Line dancing!" is my reply." -- Pennie Sempell

"I think you are a fabulous dance teacher. Dancing with you always lifts my spirits. Thanks for preparing so many dances for us. I love how my memory -- brain and muscle -- work to keep up with the steps. You're helping me stay young." -- Melissa Baker

One more good reason to line dance

A long-term study indicates that leading a mentally stimulating and physically active life can postpone memory problems. Sedentary living and lack of mental challenge have been linked to higher risk of dementia. We knew line dancing was fun and felt good -- now we know
it keeps our brains fit as well as our bodies!

"Joan is such an enthusiastic and talented teacher. I love her classes! Line dancing with Joan in her classes has been such a pleasure. I used to feel too tired to venture out in the evening, but since I discovered line dancing, you can't keep me at home. I look forward to every class, enjoying the participation, the mental challenge of memorizing, the physical exercise, and the companionship of other dancers. Sometimes I feel as if I am flying across the floor. What a joy Joan has brought to so many!" -- Marsha Diane Arnold

Rise and Shine, a line dance choreographed by Robert Rice and Joan Price, was awarded First Prize in the choreography competition at Golden Gate Classic, the San Francisco Bay Area International Line Dance Festival, October 3-5, 2003. Dances were scored on technical merit and artistic impression, including phrasing to music, originality, dancer friendliness, and entertainment value.

"I have always been aware of how important exercise is, especially at my age. I tried a lot of things, aerobics, walking, riding a bike, exercise machine, etc. They were all work to me and I soon became bored and lazy and wasn't doing any of it on a regular basis. I tried line dancing and liked it so well, I began looking for more classes. I tried Joan's class, loved it, and am still at it, eight years later. I realized I had found a lifetime exercise program. Joan is such an excellent teacher, and she makes the classes so much fun. I had never heard of an exercise program that could actually be fun, but Joan's classes are exactly that." -- Juanita Brownlee (who takes 9 line dance classes a week)

"Not only do I enjoy the companionship, the excitement, the invigorating, inspiring, and enjoyable exercise for body and brain, but more than that, when I line dance, it becomes a magical time when all things seem possible. It helps me forget my limitations and takes away unwanted fear. I feel the joy of life. Being a participant rather than a spectator is to be alive. I love to line dance because it helps me lighten up and not take life so seriously. Yet on the other hand, there are places inside me where calm has never settled. Line dancing is loosening the knots of endless urging to find inner silence. There is contentment. It is a gift." -- Uta Martin

"I am really enjoying your classes! As a beginner I am feeling like I am relaxing more and learning more and more from your clear teaching and -- humor! Laughter is always a good thing and keeps it all in balance." -- Nancy Dempster

"I have been dancing for 60 of the 72 years of my life. Dancing has always been my first love, my first passion. From professional ballroom dancing to ballet, pointe, soft shoe, jazz, and tap, I enjoyed them all. About 18 months ago, the doctor told me that my knees were gone and the dancing days were over. It was then that a friend told me about Joan Price and her line dancing class. Joan's love for dance, her enthusiasm in the class, her commitment to her craft, her genuine caring for each student, her patience with those who need the extra help, all combine to make each class a wonderful, happy memory. Now that I am so limited in what I can do, she makes me feel so welcomed and loved that she is making my remaining dancing days pure joy." -- Joan Gatley
